Vascular Access

Vascular Access

Vascular access is the most commonly performed invasive procedure.200 million peripheral intravenous (PIV) catheters placed annually in U.S. hospitals.PIV placement is difficult in 35% of emergency department patients.

American College of Emergency Physicians recommends bedside procedural ultrasound to achieve a “one-stick standard” and improved patient safety, decreased procedural attempts and decreased procedure time.

Value Proposition

Over 2500 procedures (Ultrasound guided PIV, Midline and PICC lines in 18 months.Bedside PICC line: reductions in cost of manpower transport and improved utilization of radiology suite.98% first-pass success for difficult IV stick: increased patient satisfaction.Zero surgical case delay due to non-functional access: on-time surgical case start.On-time diagnostics and antibiotics start for In-patients: reduced length of stay, improved DRG.Placement of Midline access for ICU patient prior to transfer from ER: efficient throughput.Reduction in false positive blood cultures.Improved ER triage and diagnostic work-up.Reduced central line placement: eliminating CLABI and iatrogenic pneumothorax.
